The electric submersible pump, also known as ESP, is a highly effective artificial lift method widely used in the oil industry due to its ability deliver higher production rates compared other methods. In principle, ESP multistage centrifugal pump that converts kinetic energy into dynamic hydraulic pressure necessary fluids at rate with lower bottomhole pressure, especially wells under certain condition fluid, and reservoir characteristics. However, several factors challenges can complicate completion optimum development of deployed wells, which need be addressed optimize performance by maximizing efficiency minimizing costs uncertainties. To analyze objective function must include various associated fluids, inflow outflow characteristics, parameters. particular, parameters well configuration, types string (e.g. tubing sizes, download hardware) while fluid temperature, PVT properties. Pump gas vacuum fraction, electrical mechanical constraints, power requirements, cable downhole conditions, etc. Despite these challenges, ESPs' importance necessitate an in-depth understanding origins evolution over time, difficulties encountered industry. This paper aims provide comprehensive review ESP's origin development, including all prior studies have influenced development. literature divided four main sections: experimental investigations, numerical simulation studies, modeling, on optimization.
